Definition and Understanding of Early Music is a term by which is generally understood music composer from earliest times up to and including music of Renaissance period. With growth of interest in music of this period and especially the use of authentic instruments in performing, various early music consorts were formed. The periodical Early Music has been published quarterly in London since 1973.
